The
reaction to the burning, Jim Reid's report and Gimpo's film ranged from
blatant scepticism to outright anger. For once their media reputations
as scam mongers and pranksters resulted in a general dumbing down of the
story. On the first anniversary of the burning Cauty and Drummond
returned to Jura to premiere the film Watch the K Foundation Burn a
Million Quid in the village hall. The discussions that followed the
screening were, to say the least, lively and this led to plans for
similar screenings around the UK and Europe. The details of what
happened next are best laid out in Gimpo and Chris Brooks book K
Foundation Burn A Million Quid (ISBN 1-899858-37-7) but briefly on 5
November 1995 Bill and Jimmy hired a car and drove to Cape Wrath,
Scotland. There they painted a contract onto the car agreeing to end the
K Foundation for a period of 23 years. The car was then pushed over the
cliff to it's final resting place, some 600 ft. below. Sole use of the
film of the money burning was given to Gimpo and the ashes were made
into a brick [this being the physical embodiment of the K Foundation.]
In 1997 following the 2K Barbican gig Drummond and Cauty created K2 Plant Hire Ltd.
A series of full page adverts inviting readers to vote by tele-poll on
whether they should Fuck The Millennium. The pole resulted in a majority
yes vote and they subsequently announced that The Peoples Pyramid would
be built somewhere in the north of England using a brick for every man,
woman and child born in the UK between 1900 - 2000, The pyramid would
be completed by 30 October 2002. People were encouraged to participate
in this project by collecting and donating bricks. It is intended that
this site be a communication point for those people who would like to contribute to this project.
